Muscle cramps

I woke up in the middle of the night screaming. My right let felt like someone had stuck a fork in my calf muscle and was twisting it tighted and tighter. I’ve had this type of muscle cramps before. Sometimes they were severe enough to where the bruises would form and my calf muscles would be sore for days. I haven’t had them in a few months, but I guess they are back now. I should have expected it though. Ever since my last long run (a 12-miler on Saturday), my leg muscles have been feeling pretty tight. In fact, my knee started bothering me again because my IT band was pulled so taut (hello, foam roller). On Tuesday, I noticed that my toes would curl up because of the tightness in my feet. Speedwork probably didn’t help either. So, it was only a matter of time before I would get my painfull “wake-up call”. I guess there are a lot of bananas in my future. I decided to forego my morning run, hydrate, take anti-inflammatory OTC stuff, and see how I feel by the end of the day. Hopefully, I can still get my 5 miles in today.

As an update to my earlier post, I did go to see a doctor on Wednesday, and she ordered some blood tests. They will be testing my vitamin D and B-12 levels, iron, glucose, and electrolytes. So, hopefully, she can catch any and all possible things that might be wrong with me. I should know by Friday.
