MetroPCS Dallas Marathon updated race course

This morning I got an email with an updated race course map for MetroPCS Dallas Marathon. I know that it’s silly, but I can’t help feeling just a little giddy about it. On one hand, it’s a little intimidating to visualize the actual distance that I am going to have to run. On the other hand, knowing that I am actually going to be able to run this distance in just three months is incredibly exhilarating. I haven’t looked at the elevation of the course yet and I am not familiar with every single part of it, but just by glancing at the map I can tell that there are two parts of the course that I am really excited about. One is White Rock Lake. This is where I started my very first running training program two and a half years ago (and I was training for a 5K 🙂 ). This is where most of my training runs take place. A lot of sweat (and sometimes tears, and sometimes blood) was shed here. So, I think it will be really cool to be able to run around the lake knowing that I’m half way done with my first marathon. The second part of the course that I am really excited about running is Swiss Avenue. Five and a half years ago I got married there 🙂 So, I am hoping that the memories of that day and the thoughts of my husband waiting for me at the finish line will help me push forward through that stretch.

  1. Swiss Avenue is also an awesome spot because it’s ALL DOWNHILL! When you are struggling up those hills in Lakewood around the 20 mile mark, just think about making it to the nice, long downhill awaiting you at Swiss. The crowds are always good there as well, and will really help you on your way to the finish line. So excited for you!

    • Yay for downhill!
