Second tentative race day weather forecast (a.k.a. “Mother Nature Hates Me”)

All I’ve got to say is “This sucks!” I think somewhere out there Mother Nature is rolling on the floor laughing at the stunt she trying to pull on all DFW runners. Really?! The high of 78 on race day?!!!! And then the temperature drops dramatically THE DAY AFTER?!!! How freaking un-cool (both literally and figuratively) is that?

  1. I am available for Race Day Weather Intervention and Therapy. All my friends are freaking out about it and it’s all we’re talking about. I started getting texts at 7:00am this morning.

Hopefully the cold front will blow in sooner rather than later, but if it doesn’t you are going to have to adjust your race goals. Accept that you’ll have to slow down and that your finish time will be slower than you’ve planned for. It’s tough, but you can still have fun and just go out to enjoy the experience. Try not to make yourself miserable over something you can’t control.

Just ask around about the White Rock Marathon 2008, which was my first. I survived. I made myself miserable, though, and wish I could go back and do it over again and have more fun.

    • I need therapy, especially now that alcohol is off limits to me. I’ve already resigned myself to the fact that I am likely to be doing a conservative 11:30 mile the entire race. But the irony of the fact that the weather will be changing the very next day after the race is still killing me.
